Another Halloween has come and gone. Sarah dressed up as Sleeping Beauty this year. She is so into the Disney princesses. Her Halloween started this afternoon when her school did a Halloween parade. There aren’t too many things in this world cuter than seeing a bunch of three to eight year olds dressed up for Halloween. We really enjoyed the entire day.
Desi even got in on the action. We picked up a costume for him and he was actually cool with it except he didn’t like to jester hat that went with it. Oh well.

Surfing the web when I should be working
Sarah’s latest adventure is a once a week ballet class. And boy does she love it! She has had three classes so far and will go for about six months. They are working their way up to a recital that they will perform next year (in March I believe–Suzanne will correct this if it is wrong). Anyway, sorry about the quality of the pictures–they won’t let anyone in the dance room where they practice, so I have to shoot through a glass window. Finally, I have included an extra picture of Desi, but who can get tired of him?
So far I like my new place of employment, but they haven’t had me doing much yet. When you are a contractor for the military, you don’t “work” until you have a contract. Make sense? Although, I am still employed, so no worries there. It takes a little time to get the contract in place. So, if you think about it, my contractor themselves don’t really have any work for me to do–it’s the government customer that really gives us work. And since my contract hasn’t come through yet, I don’t have a customer. I have talked to my boss about it and he said that this is pretty much normal–contracts take time. They don’t like it, but it’s the cost of doing business. So in the meantime, I’m just overhead to the company. Yech for them. And quite honestly, boring for me as all I do is surf the internet all day and do the occasional odd job for the boss. But I do know the contract will come through very soon (like within the next week or two), so I just need to hang in there.
One more day on active duty (but who’s counting?) Anyway, people have been asking for pictures of Desi, so who am I to say “No”? I think he’s getting bigger, don’t you? Actually, he’s already gained over a full pound in the one month we’ve had him. And he is such a kitten. He loves to bite feet–especially when you are walking down stairs and least expecting it. Desi seems to have attached himself to Sarah the most in the family–they play all the time. It sometimes almost seems like torture the way Sarah totes him around the house, but he doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, he always comes back for more. Click the image for a few more pictures of him.
We have had our good friend, Teresa, staying with us for the last week. She is getting ready to deploy to Germany for a while and it has been great having her here. Best of luck to you there!
Just a quick shout out to my brother who started college two weeks ago and is kicking butt and taking names. Keep up the great work, David! You can read his blog here.
And I’m less than two weeks from starting my new job, for which I am very excited as well.
Well, I won’t be unemployed on September 1st. I have signed on with a small company called Valkyrie here in Norfolk/Virginia Beach and will start on September 2nd. I will be doing a lot of work similar to what I’ve been doing for the last two and a half years, and will even be working with a lot of the same people. I am very excited about it!
We brought Desi home yesterday. Isn’t he cute? He is so playful and cuddly. He seems to already know his name and comes when we call him. He likes playing with Sarah and so far, he is the perfect kitty in every respect. One more picture of him sleeping here.

The pictures from my ceremony and reception are available for viewing at http://www.vabeachweb.com/events/morrow/
If you want prints of any photos in particular, let me know which ones and what size you want.
First of all, “Thank you” to everyone that came to see my retirement ceremony. I sincerely hope it lived up to your expectations. It was our pleasure hosting you. I do not have the pictures back from the photographer yet, but when I do, you will be the first to know. I did get some pictures of the rest of the time that we spent together, though, and you can see them here. What you will see are pictures from the American Rover cruise and the trip we took to the aquarium.
Finally, if you want to be notified in the future whenever I post new articles, just click on the “Notifications” link on the right side and enter your email address. I usually only make a couple of posts a month, so your email inbox won’t get slammed.
